WHEN EVERY SECOND COUNTS:

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN CRISIS MANAGEMENT

Crises, whether climate-related or man-made, are becoming more complex, unfolding more rapidly and proving increasingly difficult to anticipate. When such situations arise, every second counts in strategic and operational decision-making, now more than ever. Can AI help professionals and decision-makers keep up in this race against time?

Artificial intelligence is no longer a technology beyond our reach: Solutions exist and can now help to detect early warning signs, analyse situations in real time and enable more informed decision-making.

The European Forum on AI and Space for Crisis Management suggests examining these advances from a decidedly operational perspective: What can AI actually do to help us better prepare for, anticipate and manage a crisis?

A unique event combining innovation and action

For the first time, the European Space Agency (ESA) and safe.brussels are bringing together public authorities, emergency and crisis management services, experts, researchers and European innovation stakeholders in Brussels to discuss these issues.

They are aiming to uncover the current capabilities of AI, compare experiences and challenges encountered in practice, and explore solutions that are already being developed or rolled out.

The day will provide an opportunity to:

  • Explore AI’s current capabilities in the field of civil security, as well as the challenges relating to governance and trust;
  • Explore how AI can support risk anticipation and real-time crisis response;
  • Share operational challenges, experiences and best practices with European stakeholders.

An exceptional panel of international experts and speakers will take part throughout the day, which is organised into three informative sessions. The forum offers interactive discussions and networking opportunities with various stakeholders across the sector, enabling participants to deepen their knowledge and draw inspiration from best practices. Participants will also be able to attend a preview demonstration of a solution developed on the initiative of the ESA and safe.brussels, applied to a real-life mass evacuation scenario in a major city such as Brussels.
